Tokyo House Ireland : RIAI Competition – 2019
Project Description
The proposal is for a wooden lattice structure jointed using traditional Japanese carpentry techniques.
The lattice form is derived through a process of rotating and combining 3-dimensional units or fragments of ‘cruciform’ space, generated by the hybrid geometry of a St. Brigid’s cross calibrated to the proportions of a Japanese Tatami mat.
Interlocking spaces are organised around a series of tiered gardens underneath a sloping translucent roof.
